Modern Gothic Bathroom & Kitchen

I love, love, love Phoenix Phaerie's Creations . For many Sims homes I use her Manor House Washroom and Kitchen sets. I also tend to like to use pieces from the Manor House Kitchen set in that bathroom - ok, maybe you think thats odd -however, the counters and cabinets work beautifully in the bathrooms as well. Sometimes you need to get a little creative using the move_objects on and boolprop snapobjectstogrid true cheats along with a little help from the tv placement mod from Mod The Sims, some invisible OMSP's it works out beautifully. Then there came the need for black fixture's and cabinets - which is where my recolor comes into play. I'm calling my recolor Modern Goth, but i'm really not sure Modern Goth is the correct description, maybe sophisticated goth? Well whatever it is, I like how it all turned out. I hope you do too! Don't forget to download Phoenix Phaerie's meshes if you don't already have them (and you should, because they are beautiful!!) There is one mesh included in the file - Jope's (Simply Styling)'s Hob Deco Mesh, which I recolored in a black & white honeycomb style for kitchen back splash. The walls & floors are all in separate sips - the dark blue wall I used for the kitchen is in the Modern Gothic Walls & Floors rar file, it's called "Black Blue Paint" - I got this idea from a photo I saw on Pinterest of a beautiful gothic kitchen. In the pictures below you can also see all the additional walls & floors included in the files.

Contempo Gray Tiles

The past two days I spent taking pictures and finding out mesh info, and setting up to post a lot I uploaded over a year ago - last night I scheduled it to publish at noon today - big OPPS but caught it just in time. However I do have something set and ready to go in its place - nothing as big as my planned lot but something is better than nothing, right? Well that almost didn't happen either - my laptop decided it didn't want to charge, and though it was working off of the regular plug, every 10 second it was flashing across the screen "laptop less than 10% please charge now" - drove me crazy. Instead of flipping out which I was on the verge of doing (I love this laptop but for the last year it's been giving me various issues), I calmly looked up on my phone what could possibly be the culprit. Google suggested completely shutting it down, unplug, remove the battery, wait 2 minutes, put it back together, plug in and turn back on. Low and behold its charging - woohoo! Oh course an issue I thought I fixed is on the blink again - darn faulty screen, so I'm back at my desk with the laptop hooked up to an external monitor. At least I got it working in some order (I also have an external keyboard thanks to my daughter spilling liquid on the laptop keyboard a few months ago, and replacing it just didn't do the trick)

Anyway.....this is just a 3 piece set - 2 walls, 1 floor, what I'm calling the "Contempo Gray" Tiles set. Good for either a kitchen or a bathroom - whichever you please. May even work as a unique exterior walls & floor set. You be the judge.

Paintings

Today I have several paintings that I've been "hoarding" on my computer several weeks for you. These I made all with the Gray Is the New Neutral Theme in mind - except for one - a "kitchen" painting I made a while ago and forgot about.

I consider this set of prints "kitchen art" mainly because its similar to a frame I painted & added nature photographs to for my own real kitchen. The mesh is the Nature's Perfection Painting (Nightlife). If you are like me and are a little OCD about balance you probably want a second painting, I've made a similar one a few months back, you can get it HERE.

Speaking of my OCD with balance, I had found two lovely paintings of flowers, one was set on a gray background with a red flower, the other was a gray flower set on a red background, each had the flower facing the right. So when I turned them into Sims paintings, I had to balance them out by making each also have a matching painting that the flower faced the left in.

For these I used Reflex Sim's Deseo Kitchen Painting 2 mesh. You can either get this directly from Reflex Sim's Website, its apart of their premium sets. Or you can get it for free from Pay Sites Must Be Destroyed HERE. From this set you'll also need the Painting 1 mesh for my very yellow painting to work.

This next painting is just a simple but lovely piece of art. You'll need the Shalimar Kitchen Painting mesh from Reflex Sims, you can get it from downloads/kitchens page 1

Never really cared much for paintings of people caught in the rain until I saw these paintings. So I had to Sim them! Hope you still have that Reflex Sim's website open somewhere, because you'll be needing yet another mesh from them - the Dolce Living Room Painting Mesh. You can find it on downloads/living rooms/page 8.

Don't leave Reflex Sims just yet - two more meshes you'll need to grab from them. The first, is from the Ines Line Living Room Set. On Etsy, I came across some very lovely paintings by an artist named Destiny Womack. I used the Ines Line Painting mesh to show case my favorite pieces she created. If you like these paintings and want to buy the actual paintings for your home, check out Destiny Womack's Etsy Shop

The final Reflex Mesh I used is from the Piano Living Room Set. This is a premium set, so if you prefer to download it free, you can get it from Pay Sites Must Be Destroyed This is also a Destiny Womack painting btw.

And one final painting - this one is a Maxis Mesh - Two Dogs & An Olive Painting (Night Life)

The Grays Kitchen

Various shades of gray don't just work well on the walls and in furniture, but they also look fab in the kitchen as well - especially for counters, counter tops and back splashes. So today I have for you 2 recolors of Buggy Booz basic kitchen counters that includes 3 countertops, and 8 recolors of Jope's Hob Deco (back splash).

Not all of the back splashes are gray, but once I had a whole bunch of templates stored on my comp that I was planning to use for back splash at some point, so I decided to do and include it all. A few of the backs splashes have part b included, these just make the design look better in the game. I've also include Jope's Mesh for your convenience. For the counters & Counter tops to work, you'll need to download BuggyBooz basic kitchen counter mesh here - Buggy's Retreat - if you download the entire set & download her Shakerlicious set as well, my recolors will work for all of them too, so you can mix and match to create the perfect kitchen :)

~ Voodoo ~ Kitchen

The Voodoo Kitchen is another fairly large set. For the most part, I worked with Vita Sim's Kitchen Marina to make this set. You will need to get their meshes - which are available at their site: Vita Sims or you can get it from Paysites Must Be Destroyed. I recolored the cabinets, fridge, & stove vent. I also added an island (there is no island with Vita Sim's Kitchen Marina), for it, I used the Maxis "Country Fried Island" which requires seasons. I also added in some additional appliances - a "kitchenaid" dishwasher and "Kitchenaid" trashcompactor - the dishwasher requires Freetime and the Trash Compactor is base game compatible. There's also a mini fridge & wine fridge both require University. Also included is backsplash that matches the countertops, the mesh is by Jope from Simply Styling (mesh is included), 3 new walls, and 2 floors.

Note: Sink & Barstools in some of the pictures are not included in the set. I'm not exactly sure where I got the kitchen, the description in the file says "Part of a kitchen set made by Chrissy1 and AngelanvEliza @Reflexsimsforum", I'm pretty sure I downloaded it from the Black Pearl Sims Forum, the bar stools are made by ShinoKCR, from her Pottery Barn Bar Set.

Additional notes: to make the island appear wider, I used the cheat "move_objects on" and "boolprop snapobjectstgrid false" and I placed them really close together, because of the style of the counter top, it appears to blend together really well. Originally I made for this set an "upright freezer" and a "kitchenaid" 6 burner range, however I didn't like how the graphics came out, so I did not include them. When I have a chance to fix them, I'll upload it.
