When renovating a kitchen, after deciding upon cabinets and appliances and the wall & floor color, back splash is also an important step to making the kitchen look stylish (and easier to clean splatters off of - my current kitchen I don't have backsplash and what a pain in the neck it is to clean the walls when food I'm prepping occasionally splatters onto them).
